Best Naxos Beaches

Beaches in Naxos differ from the beaches in other Cycladic islands due to their various forms and characteristic length. Most of them have soft fine sand and crystal blue waters.
In brief, the most charming sandy beaches are located on the western side of the island, which is also the most touristy and developed part.
The most famous beaches are Plaka beach, the longest sandy beach on the island, and Agios Prokopios beach. They are considered among the most beautiful beaches of the Cyclades and are well-organized with sunbeds, water sports, and restaurants.
But there are many other beautiful sandy beaches to explore on the island. The area of Aliko is not to be skipped; a protected zone for its cedar forest, which offers several lovely beaches, including Aliko beach and Mikrolimano. The landscape is awe-inspiring and emits serenity.
Others, like Mikri Vigla beach and Amitis, are famous for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
If you travel to Naxos with kids, the perfect beach is Agios Georgios, the Town's main beach, with shallow waters and all the needed facilities. We also recommend Sahara beach, a stunning place well-protected from the winds.
Those looking for some privacy should consider the small coves at Orkos beach or the beaches of the eastern side of Naxos, like Psili Ammos. If you are an adventure seeker, do not miss Panermos beach.
The northern side also offers numerous beaches and wild bays, but accessing them is a bit challenging sometimes, and the sea can be affected by the winds more easily.
Which are the best beaches for snorkeling? We recommend the peninsula of Aliko and the bay of Panermos.
Note that Naxos is a very popular and busy island and it is not always easy to find a free sunbed on the many organized beaches.
