Naxos is the biggest one of the Cyclades islands. Finding a place to stay in Naxos will not be strenuous since there are numerous hotels, resorts, villas, apartments, rooms to let, studios and B&Bs on the island. With that said, finding the right place to host your Greek holidays might be a bit tricky, especially if it’s your first time on the island. We have created this section about Naxos hotels & accommodation in order to provide you with the most updated and precise information and tips, in order to help you book the lodging that best suits your needs.
Naxos has for years been considered a rather calm, family oriented holiday destination. With the tourism influx of the last few years more and more types of travellers have arrived on its shimmering shores; from holidaymakers seeking luxurious relaxation in high-end hotels, honeymooners aiming at creating their most cherished memories, to young vivid party people and independent kitesurfers looking for their next thrills in the sea. This change has also prompted the naxian hotels towards a revision and optimization of their offered amenities, so as to cater to the needs of both newer and established tourism preferences. It is safe to say that there is a hotel for every taste and budget. The majority of Naxos’s lodgings are small family-run businesses. Most of the buildings and their rooms are being frequently updated and renovated, maintaining great housing conditions, are well equipped, with air-conditions, hot water and a kitchen. The majority of them can be found at charming locations and are equipped with a small balcony with view.
When it comes to design, quite the variety can be found around the island; from small rather minimal rooms for clearing the mind, to more traditionally oriented decor allowing for a cozier atmosphere and ,of course, high-end lavishly designed rooms and suites for a pampering experience. As a result, the prices vary accordingly. Another thing to keep in mind regarding lodging is that most of the accommodations operating on the island bear the sign of the Greek National Tourism Organization, translating into full compliance with all the official rules governing Accommodation in Greece. As with every tourist destination, it is advisable that you do not rush in booking accommodation and skipping important details; no one likes a room facing away from the desired view or a hotel much farther from the main streets while not having a means of transportation to cover the distance on the daily! As long as you gather the necessary information from trustworthy and frequently updated booking sites, you will be just as comfortable and relaxed as at home. In case you are unsure about a booking or a price, customer service in Naxos’s accommodations is always happy to help out!

For backpack travellers lodging may not be the top priority on their list, but for most visitors it is a pressing matter of high importance. According to the needs and expectations one has for their vacation, booking ought to be planned thoroughly. A quiet remote location can be disappointing to the young visitor who soughts after the island’s nightlife, whereas for a family it can be an earthen paradise. Also, it is good to note that most of Naxos’s tourist infrastructure has been developed on the western coastal side of the island. With that said, let’s take a closer look at the many options Naxos has to offer!
The main touristic locations to consider regarding accommodation on Naxos are: Chora (main town), Stelida, Agios Georgios, Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna, Plaka, Orkos and Mikri Vigla.
Other locations close to delightful beaches with hotels and less developed tourist facilities, away from the crowds are: Kastraki, Pyrgaki, Agiassos and Glyfada.
Alternative options, farther from the shores with locally traditional rooms can be found in the villages of the island’s mainland such as: Potamia, Sangri, Halki and a few more.
Some remote places with limited tourist infrastructure are Apollonas and Moutsouna.
Plaka beach is one of the most aesthetic coasts of the Cyclades and according to us, it is the finest location to seek accommodation on the island. The seashore itself is simply amazing: pure white sand and clear blue waters extending for 4 kilometres uninterrupted. Due to its length, it is very rare for it to become overcrowded. Furthermore, many notable restaurants and bars can be found in the region. The hotels are elegantly designed with distinguishing decor and most of them have exceptional sea views, with the beach laying less than 100m away.
﹢ Positives: It is considered as one of the top accommodation choices for travellers seeking an amazing beach on their doorstep, beautiful hotels with sea views and a more relaxing atmosphere.
﹣ Negatives: Transportation is required for visiting other locations on the island.
Our recommended Hotels in Plaka: Ploes, Blue Harmony (3 keys), Plaza Beach Hotel (3 stars), To Armiro (3 keys)
Agios Prokopios is one of the most noteworthy beaches of the island and located only 5km away from Chora. It is a touristic region and hosts a variety of restaurants, beach bars, bakeries, mini markets and nice hotels.
﹢ Positives: Agios Prokopios is hands down one of the must-see seashores on the island. Booking your hotel here means that you will have quick and easy access to one of the most important parts of your holidays in Naxos: swimming in pristine turquoise waters and laying on a white sandy beach. Being a well developed touristic area, you are sure to find anything you need: supermarkets, bakeries, fine restaurants, cafes and bars. Agios Prokopios is connected by bus with Chora and other beaches. Also due to the presence of beach bars, it is very popular among young travelers.
﹣ Negatives: Hotels rates may be augmented in periods of high demand so you should book early on to avoid extra expenses!
Our recommended Hotels in Agios Prokopios: 18 Grapes (5 stars), Naxian Utopia, Golden Sun (3 keys), Naxian Collection (Luxury), Francesca Hotel (2 stars)
Chora is the island’s capital and port. This is the epicenter of life on the island with many options on accommodation, bars, restaurants and shops in general. Moreover, many of the island's attractions are here (Kastro, Portara, Archaeological museum). Note that since Chora is the biggest and only town on Naxos it consists of several neighborhoods that are very different. Some are more central, others are located farther from the main streets while still providing charming views. Such is, for example, the “Agidia” neighbourhood.
﹢ Positives: It is a pivotal location, very vivid with lots of restaurants, shops and cafes. There are many budget accommodation options here. Also, it is ideal for short stays in Naxos and a perfect choice, if you are not renting a car since the central bus station with frequent schedules to most of the island’s touristic parts and the taxi station, are located at the port and are reachable within a short walking distance. Also in the surrounding area of Chora, visitors can find luxury hotels.
﹣ Negatives: There is no direct access to a gratifying beach. You will either need to take a bus/taxi or your car to reach one. The nearest beach to Chora is Agios Georgios which can be reachable on foot. Many of the Hotels at Chora, especially the low budget ones, can be somewhat outdated and not with significant view. Also since it is central, it is prone to become noisy at times. Last but not least, if you have a car you will be obligated to park it in one of the main parking areas since cars outisde the town as cars are prohibited inside the town.
Our recommended Hotels in Chora: Anassa Naxos (2 keys), Castle Mansions, The Saint Vlassis (2 stars), Naxos Panorama Hotel (2 stars), Venetiko Apartments (3 keys)
Agios Georgios is the beach nearest to Chora. It is quite lively and buzzing with hotels, shops and restaurants. It is considered as a very convenient, kid friendly alternative for your family vacation!
﹢ Positives: Booking a hotel in Agios Georgios, is a decent choice. It is very close to Chora, has a relatively nice beach (although not ranking among the top ones on the island, it is definitely good enough to spend sufficient time for relaxation on it). There are some inexpensive accommodation options and it is very popular with families travelling with children. The natural attributes that facilitate this type of tourism are surely the sandy seashore and the surprisingly shallow waters, allowing for safe and carefree kids’ playtime.
﹣ Negatives: As with every well-known location, it will inevitably become crowded, especially during peak summer season- but do not fret! You can always catch a bus or rent a car in order to easily explore Naxos’s numerous beaches at your own pace. Lastly, as regards the hotels, their decor and design is rather minimal and simplistic, allowing you to focus on the natural beauties of the island rather than staying indoors.
Our recommended Hotels in Agios Georgios: Alkyoni Beach hotel (4 stars), Galaxy Hotel (3 stars), Nissaki Beach Hotel (4 stars), Astir of Naxos (3 stars), Galini Hotel (2 stars)
It is a central region, very close to Chora and the Airport. The beach is not accessible on foot and it blooms with many deluxe resorts. Many tourists prefer staying in Stelida because of their preference for a specific luxury hotel and not because of the location.
﹢ Positives: Central region with grand resorts.
﹣ Negatives: It is rather far from the beach. Shops, restaurants or other facilities are not within walking distance.
Our recommended Hotels in Stelida: Naxos Rock Villas, Kedros Villas (3 keys), Kouros Art Hotel ( 4 stars)
Agia Anna is a beach and a small harbor located 7 kilometers away from Chora. It is a tourist settlement with a wide variety of nice restaurants and hotel options. It is considered a very popular and safe option.
﹢ Positives: Agia Anna is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. This has made it a popular destination and a safe choice for many different kinds of travellers. There are many cozy hotels and rooms to let and most of them are in very good condition, whereas some have a sea view. Also, pleasant restaurants are located here along with many shops, mini markets and pharmacies. There is a bus stop in the region that can take you to Chora and a few other beaches as well.
﹣ Negatives: It is a touristic area and although there is a bus station, a car would be recommended if you want to explore the island at a more relaxed pace.
Our recommended hotels in Agia Anna: Naxian Breeze (3 keys), Annita’s Village (3 stars), Iria Beach ( 4 stars), Castello studios (2 keys)
Mikri Vigla is the kitesurfing and windsurfing hub in Naxos. This is the beach where windsurfing schools and shops are located and thus has become the most popular accommodation place among the kitesurfing community.
﹢ Positives: If you are travelling for Kitesurfing/windsurfing this is your ideal location since it is the closest to the beach. Also, apart from the windsurfing spot of Mikri Vigla, Sahara beach is nearby. Its natural protection from the wind and waves makes it ideal for swimming.
﹣ Negatives: It is a windy region so swimmers’ caution and compliance with the lifeguards’ instructions on such days are crucial.
Our recommended Hotels in Mikri Vigla: Studios Kontos, Coralli Beach Apartments, Victoria Studios Apartments (2 keys)
Other nices places to stay in Naxos: Orkos, Kastraki, Agiassos, Potamia, Pyrgaki and Sangri.
