Megalochori in Santorini: Megalochori is one of the most traditional villages of Santorini. It lies on a hill and is characterized as a labyrinth of steep alleys and streets. Still untouched by tourism, Megalochori keeps its beautiful architecture with the picturesque square, the narrow streets, the Neoclassical mansions and the typical cave houses of Santorini.
The uncountable vineyards which extend beyond the countryside offer a magnificent setting and some of the most famous wines of Santorini. Megalochori is definitely a place to experience the rich wine tradition is some of the wineries open to the public.

Megalochori offers a nice mix of white Cycladic houses, several churches and narrow alleys witnessing the strong Aegean tradition. Follow the road to the main square that hosts a couple of nice restaurants serving delicious food.

Car rental: Τhere’s the option of renting a car in Santorini with as little as 14.5 euros per day and pick it up directly from the airport, port or your hotel. Using a car rental allows visitors to discover Megalochori and many other places of interest in Santorini at their own pace.
Public transfers: In Megalochori village lies the 12th stop of the bus route Fira > Perissa. Fira is where the central bus station of the island is located. There are bus connections between this bus station and the most areas of the island. There are buses to Perissa approximately every 1.5 hours. From Santorini airport to Megalochori: There’s a bus station at the airport located between the arrivals and departures buildings. The buses that depart from there take visitors to the main bus station in Fira village, which is 5 km away. There is a bus from Santorini airport to Fira approximately every hour. From Fira, visitors should take another bus to reach Megalochori, following the route Fira > Perissa.
From Santorini port (Athinios) to Megalochori: The bus station is located on the port of Santorini. From there, visitors who have arrived by ferry to Santorini can take a bus to Fira Central bus station, which is 8.5 km away. From Fira, visitors should take another bus to reach Megalochori, following the route Fira > Perissa.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop in every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination, so that he makes a stop there.
