In addition, a few whitewashed, blue-domed small churches are scattered along the settlement and will definitely catch your eye.

    Central spot away from noise

I think Firostefani is one of the cutest of all the villages in Santorini Greece. It is actually like a neighbor to Fira and it is situated at the north of the capital. We walked there to Fira, which is a nice 40 minutes path along the caldera. A wonderful experience especially at the sunset! I heard that the municipality will make this walk a paved route, which I think is a great idea! Unlike Fira, the atmosphere there is calmer and more family. Houses are smaller and have a more personal touch, altough there are a lot of hotels. While we were walking through the streets at night, the houses looked beautiful with street lamp lights illuminating a part of them. For me, the caldera and the volcano are best viewed from this village because it is set just at the edge of the cliff. I got a beautiful sight of Fira also from here. There are a few taverns with balcony to the caldera and a nice 19th century decoration. I recommend it for stay, too. It is a central spot in Santorini, but still away from noise.
