Santorini Firostefani

General information

Firostefani in Santorini lies north of Fira, with only a short distance separating it from its considerably larger neighbor. Undoubtedly, the views from this part of Santorini are spectacular, allowing visitors to admire another perspective of the volcano. One can enjoy the magnificent sight of Fira itself and the breathtaking sunset in the evening.

The name Firostefani is the compound of “Fira” and “Stefani” - the Greek word for the crown - and indicates its location on the edge of the region.

Firostefani boasts plenty of restaurants and cafes that emit a cozy vibe in the most fabulous locations.

More about Firostefani

Some of the most impressive lodgings also lie within Imerovigli, including posh hotels, villas, and studios. Most shops are concentrated in the main shopping street at the center of Firostefani.
In addition, a few whitewashed, blue-domed small churches are scattered along the settlement and will definitely catch your eye.

Firostefani’s location allows guests to enjoy a calmer vacation without being deprived of entertainment. The fact that the village lies in proximity to Fira guarantees a less crowded environment and, at the same time, easy access to the lively capital.

Between the village of Firostefani and Imerovigli lies the Agios Nikolaos Monastery, which is home to a Folklore as well as an Ecclesiastical museum.

    Central spot away from noise

I think Firostefani is one of the cutest of all the villages in Santorini Greece. It is actually like a neighbor to Fira and it is situated at the north of the capital. We walked there to Fira, which is a nice 40 minutes path along the caldera. A wonderful experience especially at the sunset! I heard that the municipality will make this walk a paved route, which I think is a great idea! Unlike Fira, the atmosphere there is calmer and more family. Houses are smaller and have a more personal touch, altough there are a lot of hotels. While we were walking through the streets at night, the houses looked beautiful with street lamp lights illuminating a part of them. For me, the caldera and the volcano are best viewed from this village because it is set just at the edge of the cliff. I got a beautiful sight of Fira also from here. There are a few taverns with balcony to the caldera and a nice 19th century decoration. I recommend it for stay, too. It is a central spot in Santorini, but still away from noise.
