The most popular way to reach the island is by ferry. There are ferries to Alonissos from Volos, Agios Konstantinos, Evia but also from other islands of the Sporades. The closest airport to Alonissos is on Skiathos island.

Constructed on top of a hill with amazing view to the Aegean Sea, Chora is the old capital of Alonissos. It was partly abandoned after a severe earthquake in 1965.
Located on the northern side of Alonissos, Agios Dimitrios is a pebbled beach with crystal waters. This is a lovely and organized place to enjoy a day at the sun.
In summer there are day cruises from the port of Patitiri in Alonissos to the Marine Park of Northern Aegean, a protected region with uninhabited islands.
Located on the southern side of Alonissos and close to Patitiri, the beach of Chrissi Milia is sandy and has amazing waters.
Tzortzi Gialos beach is located close to Patitiri, the port of the island. This is a long beach with small white pebbles and crystal waters.
This is a calm beach with clean water. It is located close to Tzortzi Gialos, a picturesque fishing port.
