Location: Baltiza

The Lighthouse of Spetses is an impressive sight that you may spot by looking towards your left while reaching the island’s port! A 27-meter-tall structure, this whitewashed building was constructed in 1831, making it one of the first lighthouses in Greece, along with the lighthouse of neighboring Hydra!

It first operated in 1937 using petroleum as fuel, while it remained closed during the Second World War, reopening in 1945. In addition, a renovation in 1976 introduced a now power-based tower, which is how it works to this day! This impressive lighthouse can be easily visited on foot since it is southwest of the new port of Spetses and minutes away from the picturesque old port!
