Aegina Tourism

Tourism in Aegina is constantly developing due to the island's close distance from the Greek capital and the frequent ferries connecting the two areas, which makes this destination highly preferred by Athenians hankering for a city break or a weekend excursion.

The reasons for visiting Aegina are countless! The island boasts countless spots to relax, gorgeous beaches for swimming and a vivid nightlife. At the same time, it is blessed by nature and many archaeological sites like the Temple of Aphaia and the Temple of Apollo.
Aegina Town, the capital and center of life, is known for its picturesque architecture and is home to many of the local places of interest. Numerous accommodations, shops and places to eat and drink are found across the area. Agia Marina is the busiest tourist resort, providing guests with a long organized beach, many restaurants, cafes, bars, and even clubs! Perdika and Souvala are also resorts, yet their ambiance is more tranquil.

Of course, trying and purchasing the world-famous pistachio from its Greek motherland should be an integral part of all travelers' plans! Those visiting between late July and mid-September will most likely have the opportunity to attend Fistiki Fest, an annual celebration dedicated to pistachios!

The island is only accessible by ferry from the port of Piraeus. Aegina has four ports in total, yet the three are connected with Piraeus. The main port is also connected to Methana (Peloponnese), the verdant Agistri and the picturesque Poros.

There is no tourism office in Aegina, so visitors can collect the necessary information concerning the places of high interest in the local travel agencies. Offices of the Grek tourist police are situated in proximity to the port, with officers offering immediate assistance to all tourists.
