Rhodes is part of the Dodecanese group of islands and, more specifically, it is the capital and the biggest of the group, with a population of about 125,000 inhabitants. It is also the most touristic member of the island group, welcoming a great number of tourists attracted by the high level of sunshine, rich history, and stunning sandy beaches of the island.

But the beauties and attributes of Rhodes in Greece don't stop there. The island still has unspoiled villages that have kept their authentic character despite the growth of tourism, nesting in the foothills of the island's mountains. Other beautiful villages, such as Kameiros, Ialyssos, and Lindos indicate the island's past thanks to their well-preserved fine architecture.

Another quality of Rhodes is its rich and varied landscape. The ground is arid and rocky around the coastlines, creating impressive rocky formations, yet becomes verdant with lush forests inland, allowing the unique dama-dama deer to reside.

The biggest asset of Rhodes, though, is its capital - Rhodes Town. It is a splendid Medieval city, the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe in fact, and its fortifications are considered the finest example of medieval architecture. In a few words, Rhodes is a magnificent island full of beauty, charming every visitor who has the chance to set foot on this incredible and unique place.

In addition to natural beauty, Rhodes has a long and rich cultural heritage. The various Cultural Unions and the recently founded University of Rhodes have given extra prestige to the island. Another contribution to the cosmopolitan image of Rhodes is the famous movies filmed on the island.

    Urge to visit again
Rhodes is this beautiful green island that all tourists want to visit. This summer I had the chance to spend my two months vacation in a lovely suburb of Athens and in this beautiful island with a close friend of mine from Greece. He is a tour guide and Rhodes is one of his favorite places to visit and I felt so safe with him knowing every little detail.

The long hour trip from Piraeus lasted for 14 hours but we managed to get enough sleep at the boat. When we reached the port we went straight to the hotel somewhere at the centre of Rhodes. We spent a whole day walking through the medieval city, the narrow alleys and the huge fortress walls. There you can see the amazing Knights Fortress, the ancient remains, the beautiful buildings and the medieval temples. I was literally left spellbound. Nikos offered me such insight about the history of the island while being surrounded by the historical walls. Outside of these borders is the modern town with its busy streets, old buildings and nice shops to accommodate all visitors. During the day we witnessed the authentic picture of the island, children playing at the main beach and people taking long walks along the waterfront, a typical summer vacation in Greece.

By car we traveled to Ialysos, a beautiful town that lies in a green valley, the ideal destination for nice and relaxing holidays. However, you will still find a great number of tourists there and wonderful beaches to enjoy a swim. About 10 km from the town is one of the most good-looking villages of Rhodes called Kremasti. It is worth visiting if you have time.

As for swimming, I loved Kallithea (swimming with the impressive springs at the background), Tsambika and Saint Paul's beach in Lindos. The castle above Lindos is also great. Lindos and the Town are two places not to miss in Rhodes.

    Family trip
Rhodes is a big island and you will need a car to get around. If that is not possible, there are local buses that depart from the city center to many villages and beaches. Especially the tourist places have very frequent connection to Rhodes Town.

As a family of 5, it is often difficult for us to find the right accommodation, but in Rhodes our apartment was fine. We stayed in Ialissos, a beautiful resort about 20 minutes from the town where we visited almost every afternoon. We loved the Medieval look, the old port, the castle, the small cafes hidden in the corners of the old town. The boutiques and jewelry stores were also lovely!

If you visit in summer, you will also get a perfect idea of the bustling nightlife in Rhodes. Don't miss the archeological museum and the Acropolis. For a couple of days, we rented a car to see the places inaccessible by bus. In the centre of the island, there are some very nice mountainous villages.

Faliraki was nice if you are under 30s but for a family it is way too noisy. Afandou beach was absolutely fantastic and so was Tsambika. Head up to the monastery on the hill and catch the breathtaking view. Lindos is also must to visit, but the way up to the Acropolis will get you tired. The donkey is a relaxing alternative but bit smelly.

    See for yourself
If you think of visiting a Greek island for their family vacations, I can say that Rhodes is definitely this place. Rhodes is among the biggest islands in Greece and has many beauties to see. I went to Rhodes last summer with my two daughters. We stayed in a wonderful hotel in Kallithea with great facilities, especially for my two children. Rhodes is totally worth a visit for the pristine beaches and the Medieval monuments.

The valley of Butterflies is a natural park with thousands of colorful butterflies appearing every year from June to September. We walked all the way to the dark paths that cross the forest. The children loved the small wooden bridges, it almost looks like you are in a magical world.

We visited some magnificent beaches close to Kallithea and Faliraki. Clean water, soft sand, nice beach bars where we enjoyed our meals with the relaxing noise of the beaches. My kids loved the island and they wanted to stay in the beach all day. Fortunatey we avoided sunburns!

No need to talk about the Old Town of Rhodes and Lindos. You have to see yourself.

    Watch the world go by
My husband and I visited Rhodes last Sept. We stayed in Rhodes Town, our hotel was close to Mandraki Harbour a wonderful place with lots of boat trips available. Rhodes Old Town is so beautiful, the cobbled streets transport you back in time, lots to do and see. We took boat trips to Lindos and Simi and they are not to be missed. Lots of great restaurants to relax and enjoy a nice meal and watch the world go by. We are going back this year in Sept and I am counting the days till I can swim in that beautiful sea again. Feel free to contact me if you want to ask me anything.

New things to do every time
I have been to Rhodes four times in the last 5 years and every time I visit this island, I seem to be seeing and doing new things, and my holiday seems to be getting more interesting than the previous one. Personally, I don't care much about reviews, raving or otherwise, because I am one of those who believe that a holiday is what you make it out to be. All places have a balance of the good and the bad, and t is up to us to make the most of what's good.

One of my favorite things on my list-of-things-to-do in Rhodes is a visit to the medieval city. I just wander around the walled city, making a sincere attempt to lose my way in the maze of streets. Seriously, if you ask me, this is the best way to discover things that no map or tourist brochure would let you on to. The place is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and I sincerely hope the authorities would do something to stop turning the ancient city into a shopping mall.

The island has some of the finest beaches in Greece. Although, Faliraki is the most talked about and highly organized, it is a crowded hotspot and a tad too pricy. If you are not up to blaring music and discos, then take my advice and head for the less crowded beaches like the Afandou, a quiet one with some water sports and amazingly clear and warm waters. I also managed to visit a few beaches, including Stegna and Tsampika, all a short taxi ride away. Both these beaches are lined with fabulous traditional tavernas, and I had tasty grilled fish prepared from the catch of the day.

    Imposing sites and beaches
I spent a week in Rhodes, and I realized that it wasn't quite enough. The island is one of the largest in the Dodecanese and has so much to offer that it is quite impossible to see all of it in a week. I also needed to do a project on a historical site for my term assignment and what better place to choose than the Old Town of Rhodes with its Knight's street, the Palace of the Grandmaster and the imposing fortifications. I spent a whole day walking the old city enclosed by the medieval walls, took in all I could and by sunset, I was happy with how my assignment was shaping up. Don't miss the archaeological museum, if you are keen on history and that sort of things. I boarded a bus to Rhodes Acropolis, the ruins from the Hellenistic era which encompasses the temple of Apollo, a small theater, and a stadium. The new town of Rhodes is fairly nondescript, or perhaps appeared so after the magnificent sights that I saw at the Old Town.

Over the next few days, I visited some of the popular beaches in Rhodes. Faliraki, a long sandy beach with water sporting facilities and plenty of taverns to choose was quite good. I ventured to the southern end, where the rocky beach was relatively less crowded, and this was the only legal nudist beach on the island. The next was Lindos, a beautiful beach which also has a picturesque village by the same name which is home to a spectacular Acropolis. The climb to the village was quite steep, and I took a donkey ride for 5 euros. Looking back, it was a very interesting experience, although I must confess, I was feeling a bit queasy at the time. On my return, I stopped off at the beach resort of Kolymbia, midway between Lindos and Rhodes. The eucalyptus avenue leading to the beach was one of the most unforgettable things about this beach.

    Let yourself go crazy
Rhodes is one of the biggest and most beautiful islands we have visited in Greece! We've been there twice and still we haven't seen everything! I love it mostly because in Rhodesthere is something for all tastes: amazing beaches, green forests in the centre of Rhodes to walk, delicious food, great sightseeing. Do not go by ferry as you will lose two days (go and back) from your vacations and you will get too tired (unless of course you like travelling bt ferry, which I hate!). The ferry ride from Athens to Rhodes is 20 hours, when the plane takes only 1 hour, so choose your transport wisely!

Our studio was in Kallithea to be close to the Town and the amazing beaches of the north: Afandou, Kallithea, Faliraki, Tsambika. My kids loved the sea sports and we could hardly get them out of the sea (and the hotel pool)!! The Town and the inland were lovely evening spots. A Saturday night we saw a Greek rock concert in the Old Port and we loved how people were singing the songs! Unfortunately we didn't experience any of the panygiria, maybe next time if we are lucky! Do not miss Lindos (by tour boat from Town) and if you rent a car go to the isolate south part of the island. It is amazing how the northern part is so tourist and the southern part so remote! Also visit the Aquarium and let your kids go crazy!

    Holidays to remember for long
Rhodes is a very big island and certainly you will not see it all in a few days. That's my first point. Have at least a week to spare, or you will love it so much that you'll want to come back to see what you've left out. My second point. Do not book far from the most popular resorts (unless you have a car) because buses go only to the frequented places.

Beaches in Rhodes are so many and so beautiful! You will love every coast, from the narrow rocky beaches around Ladiko to the busy watersports centres in Afandou. We were a family of four and booked a studio a nice, budget studio in Kallithea. The ferry ride from Athens from very long (16 hours? or so) and we knew the children would get tired, but we don't frequently travel by boat, so we thought it would be a nice and unusual experience. Maybe if we had booked a cabin, things would be more comfortable...

The rental car waited for us at the port when we arrived and it turned out very necessary. Otherwise, we would have missed all these nice villages in the inland, the ruined castles, the abandoned monasteries, the beautiful forests...

It was a pleasure to walk in the forest and we even saw a deer!!! My kids got mad, they loved it! Of course, we just saw it at a glance because my son screaming made it leave in terror! Our favourites beaches were the sandy beaches to avoid any injury on the rocks. Tsabika, Afandou, Faliraki were great and the day in the waterpark was great fun. Definitely holidays to remember for long!!

    Loved each beach separately
All beaches in Rhodes are great, we loved each one separately and for different reasons. Faliraki for its music beach bars, Afandou for the watersports, Kallithea for the rocky landscape, Tsambika for the clean water and the list goes on...

Our hotel was in Afandou and this is where we spent most of our days but we travelled a lot around and saw beautiful places. Rhodeshas everything you want on your holidays: sites to see and beaches to swim.

We saw many castles and ancient sites. I loved Lindos, I was disappointed with Ancient Kameiros (you should take more care of this site, it is a pity to leave it almost abandoned and to allow vegetation to grow among the ruins!!!) and unfortunately we saw only a few butterflies in the Butterfly Valley!! Probably it was not their time to fly...

Walking in the Medieval Town was so relaxing and interesting and one day we took a tour to Simi, a lovely island only an hour away. A tour to Turkey would also be cool but we didn't have passports, only our EU identity cards. In Rhodes Town, you can find some gourmet restaurants to eat but we prefered the small taverns by the beach. After all, the food is fresh and prices are cheaper there!

    Feel the history
Rhodes is an island that always reminds me of my teenage years since it is an old tradition here in Greece that during your last years in school you go a five day tour with your classmates and teachers. We were wearing huge sombrero hats and going all way round the magnificent medieval castle in the night (it is almost half of the city and it's a monument listed in Unesco!!) in the center of the town and the traditional alleys. You could feel the history walking near you with all the tombs, the statues and the relics there!

Needless to say, the nightlife (the coffee shop in the pirate ship which was on a swimming pool was my favorite) was fantastic and you had opportunities to try extreme water sports since the island offers an extremely well developed tourism full of 5 star hotels, casino, bars, pubs, restaurant for all tastes which attracts thousands of tourists from all over Europe.

What impressed me most was the aquarium there with species that are rare and sometimes common in the Aegean Sea in a structure that looks like an underwater cave! Truly magic! And of course do not forget to visit the near by island of Simi which will totally conquer your heart.

Try definitely the famous local wines, the koriantolino which is a liqueur made from a flower that grows only there and you will love the decoration of its bottle and melekouni, a traditional sweet with honey and sesame.

Rhodesis for everyone really and it is a pity that regions like Faliraki attract so negative types of tourism (which in many cases it is just an exaggeration of the media that may scare you a little bit). In general, I believe that Greece and the Greek islands are perfectly safe and sometimes it is just our lack of caution and judgment that may cause problems!

    Beautiful sites and locations
We visited Rhodes on our way to Mykonos. We stayed there for 5 days to see the island but of course we only managed some places, as it is so big. The island was clean, the beaches were gorgeous and the ancient sites sprawled over were marvelous. We had stayed at a boutique hotel in Rhodes city. This hotel was in fact in the Old Town in the city. Here we got to see some splendid medieval architecture. The narrow streets had the old warm charm and were lined with antique shops and restaurants, selling delicious food.

The best option for us was to rent a car on the island. It gave us the freedom to explore on our own the various sites. The locals helped us out with directions because maps were confusing us. We visited Lindos, the ancient ruins of Ialyssos and Kameiros, the Aquarium and the Butterflies.

Faliraki beach is definitely the most crowded beach on Rhodes. There were tourists sprawled on the loungers throughout the length of the beach. I really have no idea when this beach remains empty. Another thing is this beach is not for children since sometimes it tends to get a bit rowdy with teenagers all over the place.

    Wonderful sites and museums
Rhodes is absolutely fantastic. Clean beaches, excellent roads, beautiful sites and villages and a lot of historical monuments. Everything which has to be seen was easy to reach. When this east coast road is finished, it will be even better. The Old Town is a beauty itself, every time we visited we found something new to see. Visit the museums to get a real view of the island's culture. My children loved the Aquarium. I enjoyed a lot the Museum of Modern Art. I think it was a good idea to display art in an old, Venetian building, it gave a sense of uniqueness to the museum.

Our hotel was in Afandou to be close to a beach, but we rented a car for three days to see the whole island. Lindos was very impressive, much better than the ancient Acropolis of Rhodesand better organized. I heard that a Hollywood movie was once flimed in Lindos, but I don't know more details. By chance we run onto the valley of the butterflies and loved this place. It was a shore to find a green area with waterfalls and get a bit protected from the hot sun.

If we had a few more days, we would take the boat to Simi or Halki, but we stayed only a week and wanted to see all of Rhodes.

    Limited options for vegeterians
The Greek people were very friendly and we enjoyed meeting many of them. We stayed in Rhodes Old town at The Spot Hotel, which was an excellent location and good, clean accomodation. Old Town is very cool, although more commercial, crowded and loud at night (from the bars) than we expected. We enjoyed walking/running in the moat. In May, the wildflowers were in bloom in Rhodes and it was a great time to be in Greece. It was pretty cool at night and hot and breezy during the day. Bring some clothing to keep you warm at the outdoor cafes. We liked the city beach with the diving platform and found many good places to eat.

We spent 2 days in Lindos which was really lovely and had fantastic beaches. Lindos was expensive, crowded, and noisy too (especially the night life, which had music blaring from most of the bars). Despite the noise and busyiness, we loved the beach at Lindos so much that it was a highlight of our trip. Local food was very good and for the most part, reasonably priced. We loved the yogurt and honey in Greece. We also loved dining outside and ate a lot of fish. Since I don't eat red meat, I had a harder time finding non-fish protein than my meat-eating counterparts. Favorite restaurants were Mandala in Rhodes Old Town and Mavrikos in Lindos.

    A versatile island
I was looking for a quite and peaceful place away from mass tourism...and I have chosen Rhodes, not exactly what I was looking for. But I have not regret it, although some places were not of my taste, such as Faliraki. I found it awful. Cheap and tacky streets, selling cheap and tacky souvenirs.
The Old town in Rhodes is worth a visit, and so is Lindos. Also go to the south of the island where the two seas join, you'll have fun there. Food in Rhodes is very same. There are so many tavernas and eating houses, it's difficult to choose.
For a nice swim, look for those beaches off the beaten track, e.g. Stegna.
Rhodes is a versatile island. It is so big that has gives you any kind of holidays you wish for.

    My favorite island
Rhodes is probably my favorite island. I haven't been to other favorites like Crete, Santorini, or Mykonos, but out of the ones I've been to (Milos, Kefalonia, Simi, Lefkada, etc.), Rhodes is my favorite. Milos was beautiful too, but Rhodes had more beauty since it was bigger. I definetely reccomend going on a boat trip to Rhodes, renting a car, seeing the picturesque Old Town, Lindos, and visiting a quiet, unspoiled little village called Haraki, near Lindos. Also, there are more attractions to the island like the butterflies and Faliraki. Unfortunately, I only stayed for 5 or 6 days, so I didnt get to experience the whole island as I wanted to, so I didnt climb the mountain, go to the Aquarium, go to the springs, golf course, faliraki waterpark, etc. as I wanted to.

    Tidier villages
I was in Rhodes last July with my husband. We stayed in the beautiful village of Lindos. The historical monuments there were very interesting and the beach wonderful. The local food was very good, we liked dinner in typical taverns, although menus were not much different. It was all nice in general, but we think the villages should be tidier. My recommendation is to hire a car and discover the island, do not stay at only one place, they are so many to see.

    Twice in Rhodes
I have visited Rhodes twice and I found it very pretty, easy to get round, nice food. If you have children, though, choose a child friendly resort, since many beaches are not kiddie friendly. The food was also good but not cheap. I won't be eating feta cheese for a while! Good supermarkets for picnics. I am not a fishy fan but it is really super if you like that sort of things. Be prepared for european prices. Many (most) beaches also are not kiddie or older person friendly, so be careful.

    Quiet Accomodation in Rhodes, Pefkos
We stayed in Coralli Apartments which backed onto 3 lovely quiet beaches. One of them we had to ourselves and at night you can hear the lapping water as you go to sleep. We were looking for a place we could have peace but with the option to go for a cocktail in a contemporary bar minus the sparklers. Pefkos is fantastic for this because it is not over run with nasty happy hour bars and does't attract the big drinkers.

Everyone that works in the Coralli hotel are so lovely with no pretentions and are very entertaining. The hotel is totally self contained with a beautiful alfresco restaurant/bar, pool/kids pool, kids play area, mini market and the bus stop is at the front of the hotel with regular buses.

A bus to Lindos takes about 10 minutes and costs 1.20 euros. We went to dinner there often because it's beautiful to sit on the roof tops and look up at the acropolis. A taxi from Pefkos to Lindos costs 7 euros. A bus to Rhodes town costs about 5 euros and takes about 1 hour and a half. If you drive to Rhodes town it takes about 40 mins.

Other long sandy beaches and close to Pefkos are Tsambika beach which is toward Rhodes town from Pefkos. Glystera beach in the direction of Gennadi.

The Coralli restaurant has an extensive menu and the food was great although the service is very relaxed it's worth the wait. Another topnotch restaurant called Enigma is in the centre of Pefkos so a 10 minute stroll from the apartments. You can get a little more dressed up for this one and downstairs there is a great cafe/bar with premium gelati and waffles! Try the Shepherds Lamb - delicious!

Catch a bus to Lindos in the evening and get a taxi home later. If you aim to get the afternoon bus at 17:45 and leg it to the acropolis because it closes at 7pm. This is the best time to go primarily because it's cooler and no one is up there. Also the sun casts shadows that make interesting pictures. I would not advise going to the beach at Lindos because it's rammed with rows of sun beds and the common mass of package holiday makers.

On the way down to the square from the top, you should stop at Medeast for very well made cocktails and a view over the harbour. It's a chic little bar and Emmanuel is very interesting to talk with. The Cubino is divine.

Two of the restaurants I would recommend are the sleek Dionysos which is of far from the church. Try the seabass feta and spinach - amazing!!
For a traditional menu in a magical courtyard setting try Kamariko which is an updated classic Lindian house. From the square, turn right at the church and follow main lane past Yianni's bar and then turn right at Lindian bar. This is family run and the place is beautiful! Try lamb wrapped in vine leaves and stuffed with fetta - you'll wish it not to end!!

A place to spend the rest of my life
I have been to Rhodes many times in the past and I love it. Last time was this summer. I always try to spent as many days as possible and I think I could spend the rest of my life on this island...
The Old Town is my favorite place, along with the Waterland Park at Faliraki, it is so fun. If you are on the island, you definetely not miss Kalithea, the valley with the Butterflies, the Castle, Lindos, Prasonissi and the Seven Springs.

    More laundries please
I liked Rhodes island very much,I spent about a week there and I left with the best memories. The best of everything. The best beaches , a few extraordinay historical sites and great night life, for all ages. The food was OK. There was something for everybody's tastes and pocketbook.
I was excited with the Tsambika beach and the village of Lindos.
One thing: they need laundries that are availalbe and easily accessable.Hotel laundries are too expensive.
We stayed at a hotel ,but I would rather stay at a house . I saw many houses that were rentals , but I coudln't find them on line.

The best place to do your Laundry
Something didn't think of, was to take enough clothes to pass the 2 weeks, so i had to do my laundry somewhere, something really frustrating, the laundromats have been not so "pretty" there!
Especially when my favorite blue jeans terned white!!
At last after some research i found a laundry service that i could trust! A very clean place that provided excellent and super fast service, with very good prices and very friendly staff!!
    I would definitely recommend!!!!!!!!!!!
For ones they want to visit, its:
"CENTRAL" LAUNDRY-LAUNDROMAT, RHODES GREECE, located in the heart of town next to Elli beach

    Stop building touristic resorts
Hello! I am Andrea and I have spent my holidays in Rhodes during last August. I am from Italy and I have been several times to Greek islands and in mainland, too, in the last 20 years. I chose the plane to get to the island, it has short connections from Athens airport.

Rhodes town is very attractive as a historical site, monuments well conserved but: too much crowd in August, shops, hotels and restaurants are too expensive and generally not attractive to independent travellers. Lindos was the same as in Rhodes town.

However, I liked all country villages and all the beaches and nature of the part of the island west and northwest of Lindos. All the shores east of Lindos are perfect for swimming.

In the package tour areas, the hotels ans bars are expensive and serve poor international and Greek food. In the other parts of the island, food is excellent.

One thing that the authorities of Rhodes should take into account, is to stop building hotels, villas and touristic resorts but restore and maintain all the historical buildings and country villages. A great choice is to reserve your room independently in the historical centre of Rhodes town and of Lindos, rent a car and go around the island. There is a plenty of desert places and beaches and excellent wild nature!

    Rhodes itself is a delight
Where do you begin? the weather? the people? the place? Well, the weather hits you first; not a cloud in site the warm breeze hits your body in a nice way; smell the olives; you start to feel relaxed right away; then you meet the people; why was I not born here they are so relaxed right away the well-being starts to work its magic; Rhodes itself is a delight the jewel in the crown. If you want night life you will get all you or you can just sit and people watch; Kremasti itself is a delight. Be with the Greek people or just sit back. Have a stroll down the back streets then if you need to be refreshed go to George bar in the village square where they will go out off their way to make you feel at home order a meal at the grill house to finish off the evening this is just blis the best I have left to the last Esmeralda hotel where I stayed with my wife. the food is first class the rooms are first class they look after you and nothing is to much trouble I will be staying here again so make a note the Esmeralda is a must.

    Just Come and Enjoy
There is probably something for everyone on the island. There are traditional Rhodian villages, excellent beaches, good main town, excellent bus system, friendly people, good nightlife if you want that sort of thing. We have found that most Greek Taverns are excellent but on Rhodes we found one that was superb (the best we have found). That was in the village of Lardos. Absolutely faultless. If you go to Rhodes you must eat there. The taxi service is the best organised in Greece with tariffs displayed at taxi points so you know what you will pay for the journeys. The Old city of Rhodes is a delight as is the harbour. You could wander for hours. Lindos is alos a must with its narrow streets and acropolis.
We wanted to combine our holiday with a visit to the Island games. The games were superbly organised and this made our holiday even more enjoyable. Must visits include the Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes), Rhodes Old Town & harbour, Lindos.

    A perfect choice
Hello, my name is Terry Mc Mullan and I'm British. I'm 40 years old and I've visited up to 10 countries. The last one was the island of Rhodes.
I arrived on the island by Plane with Thomas cook. The trip was good with no delays.
The reason I visited Rhodes was because I discovered it in a brochure, and I was impressed. The island was very nice, with perfect beaches and crystal clear waters. Also I enjoyed the food it was truly delicious. The main town was very peaceful and quite, with kind local people, and truly authentic. The nightlife of the island was excellent and the days I stayed, the weather was perfect.

    A fun island to visit
    Nationality: Scottish
    Age: 34
    Countries visited: 5-10
The Trip: I arrived on the island by plane and boat. The trip was very good with no delays and excellent service.
Reasons for going to Rhodes: Discovered on the Internet: Rhodes was somewhere we always wanted to see
Idea before going to Rhodes: I had some idea from the sites that I found on the internet and information that some friends gave me. I knew that there would be a lot of beautiful beaches and a great nightlife.
    Negative opinion about Rhodes
The only negative thing I have to say is that sometimes there are way too many people crammed into a tiny bar or club, though it can be interesting at times.
Recommendations for future visitors: In the day time hire a car and go around to do some exploring be sure to look for beaches and check out the medieval castles and fortresses and at night go to Faliraki and party all night.
Rating of the overall quality/organization/services of this island/area in comparison with other countries
    8/10

I recommend that the flags in the island should be changed because all of them were torn, esp. in the harbor none of the Greek flags were complete and it looks inattentive. The vendors, salespersons were not friendly. I could have spend more money if they were

    Cosmopolitan and beautiful
I really liked Rhodes not only for its numerous beauties but also for its cosmopolitan character and atmosphere.

I found a splendid and very luxurious hotel at Faliraki where my wife and daughters were thrilled with the irreproachable service, the terrific view and the wonderful swimming pool. We had a long sandy beach at 10 minutes away and all the facilities we needed (excellent restaurants, bars, shops, etc?). We also spend a few nights in the superb capital, the medieval city, where we discovered one of the best restaurants I have ever been too; very classy and tasty.

In Rhodes, I really found everything I was looking for.

    What a beautiful place
The island of Rhodes was a revelation for me. I felt in love with the magnificent medieval city, with the rich architecture, with the landscape and, of course, with the endless beaches and their clear waters.

I took 2 days to discover the many beauties of the capital and then I rented a room in the lovely village of Lindos which is another marvel; it is a small town built on the slopes of a hill, overlooked by an ancient acropolis and where I found, to my great pleasure, a delightful combination of Byzantine, Arab, medieval and local architecture. I felt so great and so at ease in Lindos that I stayed there until the end of my holidays.

All the beauties of Rhodes and the incredible quantity of its beaches makes you forget about the crowd; and you can always found a calmer cove and some very authentic villages?I did.

Impressed by the town of Rhodes
My wife and I visited Rhodes this June. We had a very good time and were very impressed by the capital and by the quantity and beauty of the beaches.
We had booked a superb studio which was right in the heart of the medieval capital, in a wonderful house. So we had all the time to wonder in the narrow streets of the City of Rhodes and admire the complexity and wonders of the medieval architecture; we were told that this city is the biggest medieval city of Europe and I am sure it is one of the most well preserved too. Apart from the capital, which were our favourite place, we visited some very picturesque mountain villages, admired the rich and varied landscape of the island and relaxed on the golden sand of many endless beaches.
I recommend to everyone to go and discover the richness and charms of Rhodes.
