Sifnos Port is located in the quaint village of Kamares, surrounded by imposing, barren hills. It lies on the western coast, around 6 kilometers from Apollonia, the island’s capital town.

Situated in the western part of the Cyclades, Sifnos is connected with the port of Piraeus in Athens, as well as with a number of other Cycladic islands, including Milos, Serifos, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Mykonos, and Folegandros.
The ferry companies that operate routes from Athens and other Cycladic islands to Sifnos are Blue Star, Sea Jets, Zante Ferries and Aegean Sea Lines.

Public Buses

Buses are the most affordable way of moving around Sifnos when traveling on a budget. The bus stop of Kamares village is conveniently located on the central coastal road, within a few hundred meters from the port, connecting Kamares with Apollonia and Artemonas. From the island’s capital town, it also possible to take the bus to other major locations, such as Platis Gialos, Kastro, Faros and Vathi. Itineraries are available relatively frequently during the summer months, and tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver. Taxis

Though taxis are an expensive option when compared to buses, they are a faster and more flexible alternative, especially as the frequency of bus itineraries also depends on the destination. With the exception of the remote Cherronissos, distances between noteworthy locations in Sifnos are relatively short. There are about 10 taxis available all over the island, and, especially during the summer months, it is recommended to arrange a pre-booked private transfer. Car Rentals

Renting a car is probably the most convenient way of moving around the island, as it gives you the freedom to create your own itinerary and explore Sifnos at your own pace, without having to rely on buses or taxis. Having your own vehicle will unlock hidden gems that would not be accessible in any other way. Car rental agencies can be found around most central spots, including Apollonia and the port.

It is also good to know that some hotels may also offer shuttle service to and from the port. To arrange a port transfer (if available), you should contact your accommodation prior to arrival. This service is usually available at an additional charge, but, in some cases, it may be available for free.
