Lionas in Naxos is a small seaside settlement that served as the port of Koronos moutain village. It was used as a port to export emery (smirida) as many mines lie in the area. The settlement displays dramatic beauty since surrounded by cliffs.

The village boasts a pebbled beach at its center, which features refreshing, azure, and crystal-clear waters. The beach is a great swimming destination for those who hanker after tranquility away from the crowds.

There are many different ways to get to Lionas from any location on the island. Airport to Lionas: 35.8 km / 22.4 miles | Port to Lionas: 35.2 km / 21.2 miles | Chora to Lionas: 34.5 km / 21.8 miles
Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus, or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from the port, airport, or your hotel. Car rental: Τhere's the option of renting a car and picking it up directly from the airport, port, or your hotel. Using a car rental allows visitors to discover Lionas and many other places of interest at their own pace.
Public transfers: The central bus station of the island is located at the port of Naxos. There are several buses from Chora to Lionas during the day. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here. From Naxos airport to Lionas: Note that there is no bus station at the airport and the best option is to book a car or a transfer. If you still want to use the public bus, after exiting the airport buildings, follow the road to the left. The closest bus stop (Naxos Camp) is located 700 meters away. From Naxos Camp, visitors can take the bus route Plaka - Agia Anna > Chora (approximately every 30 minutes during summer) to Naxos central station. From there, visitors should board another bus. Line 2 reaches Lionas. From Naxos port to Apiranthos: The bus station is located at the port of Naxos. From there, visitors who have arrived by ferry should take a bus. Line 2 reaches Lionas. Tip: Since buses don’t always stop at every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination in advance.
