The airport of Kefalonia is found at the region of Svoronata, on the southwestern side of the island. It receives domestic flights from Athens and Thessaloniki and the flight time from both cities is 1 hour. In summer, it also receives many direct flights from abroad and charters. Over the last years, many low-cost European air companies have launched routes to Kefalonia.

Ferries to Kefalonia depart from Killini, a port town in western Peloponnese. These ferries arrive in Poros, the main port of Kefalonia, in about 1h30min. Occasionally, but not every summer, there are ferries to Kefalonia from Patra. In summer, there are local ferries from the port of Astakos in mainland Greece to Sami port Kefalonia and Pisaetos port Ithaca.
The port of Fiscardo in northern Kefalonia also receives ferries from Vassiliki Lefkada, while the port of Pessada in southern Kefalonia operates ferries to Shinari Zakynthos. Ferries between Argostoli and Lixouri are daily and very frequently, every 30 min. In high season (from late July until early September), the port of Sami in Kefalonia receives ferries from Brindisi Italy.
