Ferries depart from Piraeus Port in Athens, but the trip is quite long, lasting around 8 hours.
Patmos is also well-connected by ferry with other islands of the Dodecanese complex, including Lipsi, Kalymnos, Leros, Kos, and Rhodes. Therefore, in case you are traveling from Athens or from abroad and you don’t feel like having an 8-hour-long ferry trip, you can fly to Rhodes, Kos, or Leros and then proceed to the island by ferry.

From Athens and the Greek Islands

There is no airport on the small island. The closest ones are those in Leros and Kos; the first receives only domestic flights from Athens Airport, while the second is an international one receiving both domestic and international flights.

How can I travel there from abroad (London, Paris, and other cities)?

Patmos does not have an airport, so the only way to get there from abroad is to fly to Athens or any of the nearby islands with an international airport, such as Rhodes and Kos. Then, you can proceed to Patmos by sea. Alternatively, after reaching Athens, you could fly to Leros or Kalymnos, which receive only domestic flights, and then take the ferry.

The only way to reach the island from Rhodes, Kos, Kalymnos and the other islands of the Dodecanese complex is to take the ferry. Please note that with a few exceptions, such as Samos and Syros, Patmos is not well-connected to other islands of the Cyclades and the Eastern Aegean.
