Kalymnos is the 26th largest island in Greece and the 4th largest of the Dodecanese. It is famous for its long tradition in sponge diving and its historical past is revealed via castles, monasteries, churches, caves and prehistoric remains. The island is blessed with green valleys and beautiful paths that urge visitors to explore them, and at the same time, it is surrounded by beautiful bays and excellent waters which are ideal for diving.
Where is Kalymnos? Kalymnos is situated 168 nautical miles from Athens. The closest islands to it are Leros and Kos, as well as the tiny Telendos and Pserimos.
The island has two ports: the main port in its capital, Pothia, and a small harbor in Myrties, mainly serving local excursion- and fishing boats. It also has a national airport, receiving flights from Athens.
