General information

The municipality of Arkesini in Amorgos is one of the oldest settlements on the island; in fact, it was one of the three main towns during antiquity, along with Minoa and Aegiali. It is built at an altitude of 220 meters on the slopes of Mount Korakas and counts around 180 permanent residents.

Near the village lie the ruins of Ancient Arkesini and the Hellenistic Tower of Arkesini. Trail 3 of the signposted hiking paths of Amorgos allows guests to visit these remains of the past along with the ruins of the ancient settlement of Minoa.
