Poros is a picturesque little island on the Saronic Gulf, and it is ideal for a short getaway as it is only 1 hour away from Athens. The port of Poros is situated in the island's main town, and it receives direct connections from the port of Piraeus in Athens, from the Saronic islands of Aegina, Hydra and Spetses, as well as from the coastal towns of Porto Heli, Ermioni and Methana in the eastern Peloponnese. The town of Galatas in the Peloponnese is also an important crossing point to Poros, as it is only a few hundred meters away from the island. Galatas and Poros are connected both by ferry boats and by water taxis.

POPULAR ROUTES TO POROS

Poros is easily accessible by ferry, and routes are available throughout the year. It is connected by ferry with the port of Piraeus in Athens, as well as with most Saronic islands. You can also embark for Poros from the seaside towns of Porto Heli, Ermioni and Methana in the eastern Peloponnese. Direct routes from other islands of the Aegean Sea to Poros are not available though.

There are also snack bars, where you can get coffee, refreshments and snacks. They are the best option if you are traveling with a pet, as there are designated areas for pets.
