Zakynthos for how many days? One to Three days

Zakynthos is one of the most popular Greek islands and is world-famous for its gorgeous beaches with idyllic scenery and crystal-clear waters.

In brief, staying in Zakynthos for a minimum of 3 days will allow you to explore the island extensively. Check out the list of the top things to see & do during your holiday in Zakynthos.

We propose excursion suggestions for 1, 2, or 3 days on the island below.

First Day: Zakynthos Town and Navagio Beach

On the first day on the island, visit Zakynthos Town, the capital and busiest area on the island. This town has beautiful architecture that is influenced by the Venetian and Neoclassical styles, old remains of foreign rules until the middle of the 19th century. The spacious Solomos Square is the center of the town. On the south side of it, you can visit the interesting Post-Byzantine Art Museum of Zakynthos.

Later on, take a boat that makes the tour of the island from the port. These excursion boats go north to the Blue Caves and then continue to Navagio (the Shipwreck) Beach, the world-famous and most impressive beach on the island. Although this beach will surely be crowded, especially in high season, you will certainly have the time to swim before you continue the trip. In the evening, when you have returned to Zakynthos Town, stroll around Bohali, the most picturesque and lush neighborhood on a hill with great views of the port.

Note: Navagio Beach will remain closed to visitors until 31 October 2023 due to landslide prevention works. The only way to admire it is from a boat and at a distance from the shore, while the average stay time of each vessel is 20 minutes. Swimming is prohibited.

Second Day: Laganas and Keri

On the second day, go swimming at the second most popular beach on the island, Laganas. This spot is the most touristically developed place on Zakynthos and it gets very popular with British tourists. The large beach is sandy and it constitutes a shelter for the rare species Caretta-Caretta sea turtle to lay its eggs.

A few km south of Laganas lies Keri, a much quieter beach with tourist facilities. From Keri, you can take the boat to Marathonisi, a pristine islet nearby. Excursion boats are frequent all day long. On your way back in the afternoon, pass by Maherado, a mountainous traditional village, typical of the villages in Zakynthos.

Third Day: Argassi and Vasilikos

On the third day, head off to the south of Zakynthos Town to swim in some of the most popular beaches on the island. The first stop is Argassi, a popular tourist resort. Continue by the coast and you will find yourself in Porto Zoro, an impressive small beach with rock formations in the sea. A bit southern is Porto Roma, equally beautiful at first sight but less crowded. The route ends in Vasilikos, a tourist village, and Gerakas, another impressive and organized beach.
