Kos is a large island with a sufficiently good road network that links the capital with the surrounding villages. The most popular way to get around the island is public transportation. Local blue buses are available only for the capital, while for the long distances visitors are served with the KTEL (green) buses. There are frequent bus routes and the central station is at the center of the town, in Kleopatras street. Buses link the main town with Kardamena, Agios Stefanos, Tigaki, Zia, Agios Fokas, Mastihari and other beaches around Kos.

Renting a car or motorbike in Kos is probably the easiest way to get around. Car Rental agencies can be found at the port of Kos Town and in the tourist beaches around the island.
In high season, small ferries from Kos Town go to Bodrum Turkey and excursion boats from Kardamena go to Nisyros island, Greece.
