In brief, Kos International Airport receives direct flights from Athens throughout the year, along with direct and connecting flights from a wide variety of islands, cities, and abroad destinations, most of which become available in summertime.

The Ippokratis Airport of Kos (IATA code: KGS, ICAO code: LGKO) is the seventh busiest in Greece and is spotted in Antimachia. Named after the ancient physician and philosopher Hippocrates, it is quite a distance from the island's capital, Kos Town, given that the two are separated by over 23 kilometers.

Since 1964, the airport of Kos has undergone multiple expansions and transformations, making it one of the most visited in the country and connecting it with around 20 countries each season!

The island can host multiple flights from domestic and European airports, with commercial or charter planes. The vast majority of direct flights from Athens (ATH), Thessaloniki (SKG), Heraklion (HER), Kalymnos (JKL), and other nearby islands are mostly operated by Sky Express and Aegean Airlines. Kos International Airport is at a distance from the capital of Kos so, to reach most of the island's spots, you will need a means of transport.

Public buses

Being the most cost-efficient means of transport on the island, buses are a reliable way of moving around Kos.
The bus station is right outside of the premises and tickets for the bus are available upon boarding.
Kos' KTEL suburban buses connect the airport to many destinations around the island. The towns and villages connected to the airport are Kos Town, Kardamena, Kefalos, and Mastichari.

Tip: Should you use public transport, remember that the bus does not always make a stop at every bus stop unless you tell the driver in advance.
If you are unaware of where your bus stop is, inform the driver in advance about where you are heading.

Transfers and Taxis

Taxis are numerous and easy to spot around the airport! Additionally, should you want to leave upon arrival, you may book your transfer in advance!
