These were two very enjoyable days in our Greek holidays. After 4 nights in Santorini, we took this weekend tour before returning back home. Ancient Delphi was fantastic and we got to see a lovely part of the mainland. Arachova and Delphi are very traditional little towns. Meat dishes in the taverns are delicious and I heard that the region has many sheep stocks. The hotel was comfortable and quiet. Thank you, Greeka and give our greetings to Andrew! He was a perfect guide.

The tour started early because the trip was a bit long (3 hours pure road except for the stops in the middle way). The bus came to pick us up from our hotel in Omonoia at about 8.20 am and then we went to Syntagma to pick up the rest of the group, about 20 people. Big bus, very comfortable, air-conditioned. Driver was friendly, although obviously he didn't speak much of Engligh. He put Greek music on the radio and Greek radio stations, which was annoying for some people cause they couldn't understand, but I found it a nice touch of the Greek culture. The guide was a middle-aged Greek woman with Australian accent. She told us she is living in Australia with her family in the winter and in summer she comes to Greece to work. Very talkable and knew lots of details about the places we visited.
Our first stop was Levadia, very nice town with great waterfalls. Second stop was Arachova, more of a small village than a town but we were said that this is a popular place for winter due to the ski centre in the region. We arrived in Delphi village in the afternoon. Straight to the hotel and then for dinner. Hotel was nice and luckily our room had great views to the mountainsides. Also good thing that it was in the centre of the village, so we could go for walks anytime. Next day, we went to the ancient site, located on the slopes of a hill with amazing views to a valley of olive trees. I loved the ancient theatre, the temple of Apollo and of course, the museum. Beautiful statues with impressive size and details. Once again, I admired the ancient Greek civilization! The way back to Athens was 30 minute delayed due to accident in national highway. We arrived in Athens at about 7.30 in the evening.
