Ferry

From Athens, Peloponnese, and other Saronic Islands

The ferry is the only means of transport that can get you to Spetses. All ferries moor at the new port of Spetses (Dapia).
There is a ferry connection between the island and the port of Piraeus in Athens, from where two ferries depart every day all year round. During summer, more itineraries are added to the ferries' timetables for the sake of holidaymakers.
The route is operated by high-speed vessels and the trip duration is approximately 3 hours.
The island is also connected with other Saronic Islands and more specifically with Hydra and Poros. It takes one hour to get from Hydra to Spetses and around 1.5 hours from Poros.
Finally, one can reach Dapia via ferry from two coastal regions of the Peloponnese, namely Ermioni and Porto Heli.

The island does not have an airport. The closest one is the International Airport of Athens.
From there, visitors can go to Piraeus and embark on a ferry to Spetses. Reaching the port from the airport is very easy, as the two are connected via metro, bus, and suburban railway. A taxi stand is found outside the arrivals area, too.
Alternatively, it is possible to rent a car at the airport, drive to the seaside settlement of Kosta in the Peloponnese and from there take the water taxi to Spetses.
Keep in mind that a vehicle ban is in force within Spetses Town. Taking the car with you is possible, yet with specific crossings. Those itineraries are posted here.
