Hydra DESTE Foundation Project Space

The exciting DESTE Foundation Project Space, a part of the DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, has been a spot for contemporary art since its inception in 2009! Inside the premises of an old slaughterhouse, the DESTE Project Space is a frequent host to art exhibitions and presentations, giving a chance to an artist or collection of artists to present a themed work to the visitors and residents of Hydra!

The featured artists can use all the interior spaces of DESTE, while its rooftop often has one of the artists’ most eye-catching exhibits, like a sculpture of a goat with a dress, though it now permanently showcases a bright yellow sun with a human face, courtesy of sculptor Jeff Koons! Other past artists that have had a seasonal exhibition inside DESTE Project Space are Kiki Smith, Kostis Velonis, David Shrigley, Kara Walker, Roberto Cuoghi, Paul Chan, and Urs Fischer!

DESTE Project Space in Hydra is open Wednesday to Monday from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 19:00 to 22:00 throughout the summertime!
