Rhodes Ialyssos Village

General information

The village of Ialyssos is the third largest settlement on the island of Rhodes, with approximately 7,000 inhabitants. It is located 8 km northwest of Rhodes Town and is close to an ancient city of the same name, also known as Trianta. This ancient city constitutes an important archaeological site.

Ialyssos is known for hosting many impressive historical landmarks, representative of the rich history of the area. Those include various neoclassical mansions and churches such as the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church of Agia Paraskevi and the Church of Agios Nikolaos. The Mineralogical and Paleontological Museum is also worth a visit, exhibiting an impressive collection of rare minerals and fossils.

Ialyssos Beach is undoubtedly one of the area’s main attractions. This well-organized beach boasts a partly pebbly shoreline and crystal blue waters. Its windy conditions create some impressively tall waves that have made it popular among windsurfers. Just behind the beach, one can also find some picturesque gardens as well as some swimming pools.

Today Ialyssos is a highly popular tourist destination, with a good variety of hotels, apartments, studios and campsites located along the coast. The area also has several traditional restaurants, as well as an active nightlife, with various bars and clubs. The village gets particularly busy in the summer when the European Windsurfing Championship is held on Ialyssos Beach.

    Nice memories from Ialysos
Ialysos was one of the loveliest villages on Rhodes. Green scenery, wonderful beaches and great hospitality. The food was also exquisite, I have been cooking Greek food since I came home. In Lindos, we stayed in Andrianna Apartment Bar and loved relaxing by the pool, listening to Greel music. The earthquake was also an unforgettable experience while I was on Rhodes, but furtunately it was not strong. I just got scared because I had never experienced an earthquake before.
