Rhodes Siana

General information

Siana is a beautiful mountain settlement that has preserved its traditional architecture. Built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mount Acramitis, the second-highest mountain of the island, it offers breathtaking views not only of Rhodes but also of other nearby islands.

Though there is not much in terms of sights, travelers can visit the church of Saint Panteleimon, a 19th-century structure that dominates the village center. In the wider area, it is also possible to see the archaeological site of Kymissala, as well as a medieval watchtower in the location of Vasilika.

Siana is mainly renowned for its excellent products. Its honey, in particular, is considered the best on the island and is commonly served on top of ice cream or yoghurt, combined with fruit and nuts, while another specialty is souma, a Rhodian version of tsipouro. Moreover, its wine is famous for its strong taste and it can only be found in the traditional cafes of Siana, paired with local delicacies. In August, the residents hold annual feasts dedicated to honey and souma, which offer a great insight into Rhodian customs and cuisine.

The village streets are full of tourist shops, where visitors can find a plethora of local products, from clothes, jewelry, and carpets to wine and desserts.
