Halki Architecture

Constructed along the mountain slopes and around a port, Nimborio is the only inhabited settlement of Halki Greece with a strong Venetian character that leaves every visitor speechless. Beautiful houses with Italian style decoration and elegant Neoclassical mansions create a perfect backdrop at the port built close to churches like the one of Agios Nikolaos with the largest bell tower in the Dodecanese.

Although small in size, Halki island is a sightseeing itself with two-storey mansions, narrow paths, and beautiful churches. The Medieval Castle, a characteristic spot of Halki architecture, is built right above Chorio offering a breathtaking view to the sea and the amphitheatrically built houses. It is worth visiting the 9th-century church of Panagia, the oldest church on the island.

Visitors can enjoy their stay in many of the traditional hotels that have respected the traditional architecture.
