How to move around Amorgos

Public transport is the cheapest way to move around the island. The local bus service carries out many routes on a daily basis from early in the morning until late at night. Special late-night bus services are also available!
Most of the bus routes have as their starting points Aegiali, Katapola, or Chora and they reach the two ports and different areas on the island. Also, there are frequent itineraries to the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, which is located near Chora. The bus takes you up to a certain point and then you reach the Monastery on foot. Some beaches of the islands are accessible by a sea bus (traditional fishing boats). From Katapola, you can go to the beaches of Maltezi and Plakes. From Agios Pavlos, you can get to the beaches of the islet of Nikouria.

Many taxis are available in the central spots of the island. Although a taxi is a pricier alternative compared to buses, it is definitely the most comfortable means of transport and transfers you to your destination quickly.
