Athens Pagrati

General information

Pagrati Neighborhood in Athens: Pagrati is a large neighborhood that borders Imittos, Neos Kosmos, Vyronas, Kaisariani, and the upscale neighborhood of Kolonaki! Getting its name from the ancient god Pagratis, it has been one of the premier destinations for entertainment in the capital whilst aiming to remain a more unique and artistic corner in Athens!

This neighborhood is spotted right of the awe-inspiring First Cemetery of Athens, a monument of art that hosts the tombs of high-profile politicians, musicians, and highly-admired Greeks, as well as the ancient Panathenaic Stadium, a staple of the Olympic Games and ancient Greece! Plus, the stunning Goulandris Museum offers an alternative break from the hustle and bustle with its vast, artwork-filled spaces, whereas the Philatelic and Postal Museum is a must for stamp lovers and collectors!

Full of famous spots for drinking and dining, Pagrati has been transformed into an exciting destination for a night out! There, you will find restaurants ranging from taverns and pizzerias to pasta bars and fine dining options! In addition, one may walk down Pagrati’s revered paved streets and spend their time lounging at a cafeteria, having a beer, or visiting its wine and cocktail bars!

Furthermore, Pagrati is known for its gorgeous parkland, a verdant spot in the urban heart of Athens that contrasts the sizzling heat of the cement-filled city! Other open-air spots include its three main squares, namely the beautifully paved Proskopon Square, the Plyta Square near the district of Gouva, and the Varnava Square, with its market and abundance of quality food options! Moreover, Pagrati hosts wonderful art shops, such as galleries, art spaces, and theatrical workshops, as well as an old mall, which is now mostly deserted.
