The Byzantine city of Mystras is one of the main attractions in Peloponnese, with palaces, castles and well-preserved buildings which symbolize the Byzantine history, art, and culture. What is now an abandoned fortress was once a powerful town dominated by many civilizations whose traces still survive. Churches, monasteries and old castles comprise the treasure of Mystras which is now maintained in excellent condition and attracts thousands of visitors.
Today, equally interesting is the modern village of Mystras characterized by the beautiful mountainous landscape and picturesque paths. It provides some great facilities for some relaxing holidays as well as breathtaking views to the surrounding region and the ancient site. Mystras is close to other important cities of Peloponnese, like Sparti.
This section proposes a map of Mystras with all the major locations.
