Location: Othos Don't miss: Museums guide (free admission dates and other useful info)
The Othos Folklore Museum is housed in a traditional Karpathian residence in the center of Othos Village, right next to the Church of Panagia Othos. Also known as the Nikolaidio Folklore Museum, its exhibits depict life on the island, as it was during the early 20th century. Visitors will get to experience the island's rich history through an impressive collection of artifacts and household items, some of which are interestingly still used today.
The exhibits found in the museum include traditional costumes, old photographs, wooden furniture, cooking utensils, agricultural tools, musical instruments, rugs, hand-embroidered material, and more. The interiors of the small building perfectly capture authentic Karpathian decorations and architecture, adding to the traditional charm of the museum. Some wax statues representing people of Karpathos wearing costumes, doing the housework, or playing music are also on display.
