General information

Massouri Beach is located in the homonymous Massouri Village, 9 km northwest of Pothia. It is one of the most popular beaches on the island, featuring a stretch of golden sand adorned with some pebbles. The waters are crystal blue and relatively calm, making this a good spot for a relaxing swim. Beach-goers are blessed with a beautiful view of the islet of Telendos, which they can visit by taking a boat from the port of the neighboring Myrties.

The beach is particularly well-organized with numerous sunbeds and umbrellas. You can enjoy a variety of water sports facilities, including canoes. A collection of cafes, bars, and restaurants line the shore of the beach, offering plenty of snack and drink options. Many hotels are just a short walk away and provide great views of the scenic beach. During the high season, the beach can get crowded with tourists and locals coming from other parts of Kalymnos.

The village around the beautiful sandy beach is the most popular tourist resort on the island with a nice variety of modern amenities and a pleasant atmosphere. Just 800 meters from Massouri Beach you will also find the picturesque Myrties Beach.

You can reach Massouri by taking a public bus from Pothia.

Get a sponge for souvenir

We had been to Kalymnos again more than 10 years ago. Greece has changed a lot over the last years. Ferries have improved a lot and hotels offer more facilities. In Kalymnos, we stayed at Massouri. This is a lovely small village with clean sea, not much crowded and not much isolate, The middle is always the perfect. In Massouri, we always had dinner at Kelly's restaurant. It has delicious dishes and an extensive menu. Kalymnos is very wild, it has rocks all around it and we could see many people mountain climbing. It seemed very hard, as the mountains were abrupt. But their effort was amazing and stubborn. There are not many sights to see on Kalymnos, only a Castle in Pothia and a Sponge Workshop. If you want to get a souvenir from Kalymnos, take a natural sponge. The locals have much tradition in fishing sponges with scuba diving.

Clean and hot Massouri

The beach of Massouri is found on the most popular area of Kalymnos. There are many beautiful beaches close by, like Myrties and Platis Gialos. Massouri is quiet but organized. It doesn't usually get crowded except in July and August. Waters are clean and hot. If you are lucky, you may catch an umbrella to protect from the sun. Otherwise, swim and go immediately at a beach bar to have a cold drink. Do not stay much on the beach if you are not protected because sun in Greece is too hot.
