Poseidonia Village, Syros: The picturesque fishing settlement of Poseidonia took its name from the god of the sea, Poseidon, and owes its second name from the Catholic Church Santa Maria Della Grazia.
Located 12 km south west of Ermoupolis, Poseidonia is adorned with rich gardens, pine trees and beautiful neoclassical houses, which testify about the past nobility and the Belle Epoque of Syros during the 19th century.
Poseidonia used to be te favourite place of the wealthy class who built their retreat mansions there, which explains all the beautiful buildings still standing today, finely preserved.
