In brief, Syros has a small national airport that receives domestic flights from Athens. A ferry is the only option to travel to Syros from another island.

Syros Airport (JSY) is located 3.5 km southeast of the port of Ermoupolis, the capital town of the island.
It was established in 1991 and its alternative name is Dimitrios Vikelas Airport, named after a revered Greek writer who came from Syros.
The airport is very small, covering an area of 1.8 sq. kilometers. 
It is connected to the International Airport of Athens and only receives direct flights from this particular airport.
The number of flights from Athens to Syros increases during summer.

The only air company that connects the island with the Greek capital is Sky Express and the average flight duration is 35 minutes.
