More about Malia Beach
The Malia coastline is on the eastern side of a 6-kilometer-long beach, starting from Stalida. The central beach of the coastline is called Klotzani and is an organized beach full of umbrellas and sunbeds. On the shore, you can also find other tourist facilities, such as water sports clubs, gyms on the sand, and beach bars where you can enjoy snacks and refreshing beverages.
On the eastern side of the coastline, towards the harbor, you can find more quiet beaches if you want to avoid large crowds. Even further lies the Potamos shore, an ideal spot for peace and relaxation.

federpu 19 Apr 2009Much crowded and noisyWe had at first booked a hotel room in Malia for 8 nights but after two days there, I couldn't find some peace. All you see is drunken British with a beer at hand. It is really a shame because the area around is so nice amd the beach is so clean. We immediately packed our things and looked for a hotel room somewhere else, in the close villages. After a lot of effort (it was middle August, the most crowded time to go for holidays in Crete), we found a room in Hersonissos, not that high class as our hotel in Malia but at least quieter.

olkadrop35 17 Jun 2008MaliaMalia has the best taverns on Crete. Very friendly staff and nice drinks. There I ate the best dakos and onion pies. The beach is also nice and very long. Also very crowded, so get your own umbrella because you might not find anyone left.
