Located in eastern Crete, in Selinari Gorge, the Monastery of Saint George Selinari was initially constructed in the 16th century by a monk who found an image of Saint George, whose tomb is in a cave that can be seen from the Monastery.
The current form of the monastery was established in 1961 and it consists of two units.
The entrance gate has been decorated with a pediment and mosaic art, while you will also find sculptures and a fountain made of stone.
The murals of the church have been recently painted after the church was reconstructed.
