As a town in southern Greece, Patra doesn't have extreme weather conditions. The climate is the Mediterranean, which means mild winters and hot summers. In summer, the temperature is really hot in the center of the city and can reach 40-42oC. However, the temperature is cooler close to the port, where a light breeze blows in the evenings. The characteristic of the weather in Patra is the abundant rainfall, mostly in autumn. As the town is located in western Greece, which receives most rainfalls from any other geographical group in the country, Patra gets quite wet in October and November. In winter, it rarely snows in Patra and the temperature usually doesn't fall under 0oC. Rains are less than in autumn and the atmosphere is cold but not freezing.
