The ancient town of Epidaurus is one of the most important towns of Peloponnese, that belongs to the prefecture of Argolida. Its strategic position but mostly the sanctuary of Asklepion contributed to the development of this town which is now part of the cultural heritage of Greece, along with the ancient theatre and the rest of the archaeological remains found in the area.

Today, the ancient site of Epidaurus is a famous tourist destination, especially in the summer where it becomes the meeting point for both Athenians and foreign visitors, due to the local theatre festival which is held annually. The modern town of Epidaurus is close to the ancient site and provides excellent accommodation and warm hospitality. The traditional atmosphere is apparent in every corner of the small town.
