The Seven Springs (or Epta Piges in Greek) are a verdant oasis of stunning natural beauty located some 26 kilometers south of Rhodes Town. The area gets its name from seven springs that run down a slope, forming the Loutanis River. Eventually, these springs flow into a small artificial lake created by the Italians in the 1920s to supply the nearby Kolymbia village with water.

One of the things that make the Seven Springs absolutely unique is the 150-meter-long tunnel that carries the waters of the river all the way to the lake. Walking along the tunnel and feeling the running water under your feet is a one-of-a-kind experience, while at the exit lies a sight that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a fairytale.
Taking on a variety of kaleidoscopic hues, the lake itself is enclosed by a dam, which also forms a spectacular waterfall. Its depth ranges from 1 to 8 meters, and it is the only freshwater lake in Rhodes where one can take a refreshing dip while soaking up the sublime landscape. The surrounding area is densely vegetated with lush pines and plane trees, and is home to several animal species, like peacocks, ducks, turtles and crabs. The Rhodes minnow (or ghizani), an endangered freshwater fish that is endemic to the island, also lives in the waters of the lake.
Tips: The Seven Springs and the surrounding forests are ideal for hiking. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to be equipped with flip flops too, in order to cross the tunnel without wetting your walking shoes. If trekking inside such a confined space does not sound appealing, you don’t have to renounce exploring this little gem; all you have to do is follow the path right above the tunnel.
In the area, you will also find a gift shop, as well as a nice old restaurant to enjoy traditional Rhodian recipes amid this idyllic setting.
This special tour will take you to two of Rhode’s finest destinations; the enchanting location of the renowned Seven Springs and the charming village of Lindos.
