This interesting collection includes musical instruments that date from 2,800 B.C. till the early 20th century. It shows the effort to preserve music as part of an ever-changing civilization. The reconstruction of some musical instruments was done with the contribution of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The categorization of the exhibits was made according to their date and kind.
A visit to the museum is possible upon request at (0030) 22860 72000.
The Museum of musical instruments is located in Oia village, in the pedestrian alleys. You will need a 5-minute walk from the bus stop or parking lot.
Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked Santorini transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from your hotel. Alternatively, there’s the option of arranging a pickup by a local driver directly at the following numbers: 0030 690 679 4316, 0030 22860 22555.
Car rental: There’s the option of renting a car in Santorini with as little as 14.5 euro per day and pick it up directly from your hotel. You can then visit the Museum of musical instruments but also many other places of interest in Santorini.
Public transfers: In Oia village lies the terminal of the bus route Fira > Oia. The museum is a 5-minute walk away. Fira is where the central bus station of the island is located. There are bus connections between this bus station and the most areas of the island. There are buses to Oia approximately every hour. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop in every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination, so that he makes a stop there.
