Agioi Apostoloi Church
Church of Agioi Apostoloi in Naxos, Cyclades Greece: Close to the abandoned settlement of Metohi, outside the Kerami area, the church of Agioi Apostoloi constitutes a unique example of Byzantine architecture. The edifice dates back to the 12th century, as it is suspected by the few, amiant-covered frescoes that elaborate its interior, while it belongs to the cruciform, four-pillar based temple genre, with symmetric lines and a dome. What is most striking regarding the church is that it features another, upper floor, where the visitor is lead by inner narrow stairs - a rare architectural sample that makes Agioi Apostoloi the sole temple in Naxos with a second level.
