Location: Katapola

The Amorgion Winery is a special distillery in Amorgos, open to visitors, made to showcase the process of wine-making, distillation and the island’s local products.

The first distillery was established in 2000 in Athens, inspired by a mix of local herbs that the locals of Amorgos used as a nostrum, called psimeni. The most popular drink, and the first one ever produced, “Amorgion Rakomelo” has been sold worldwide and patented by the distillery since 2003, along with another local drink, psimeni raki. Since its inception, the distillery has produced various drinks based on raki, honey and local herbs of Amorgos. Amorgion has also produced a special ouzo, tsipouro and local delicacies.

In 2013, the company behind Amorgion opened the second distillery in Katapola Village of Amorgos, where you will experience the production of Amorgiano Wines, the local pasteli and the different fruit-flavored loukoumi. Visitors can see the process of wine-making for themselves, as well as sample the island’s premium products. The winery also offers certain discounts on some of the products, along with this unique experience.
