General information

Kalamaki Beach is located 65 km southwest of Heraklion Town and is part of the Messara Gulf. The shore stretches for 2.5 km, and it’s covered in soft, golden sand. The waters have a bright blue color and can be quite wavy, while a large, slick rock lies on the seabed.

The coast provides all the essential tourist amenities, including umbrellas, sunbeds, a playground for children, and water sports facilities. If you’re looking for a place to stay, comfortable rooms for rent are also available along the beach. In addition, the seaside taverns serving delicious Mediterranean specialties are guaranteed to leave you satisfied and full.

Note that the Messara Gulf is a nesting place for the Caretta-Caretta turtles, which means visitors should be careful when visiting the beach in order to avoid scaring or hurting the turtles and breaking the eggs.
