General information

Sfinari is a large beach located 57 km southwest of Chania Town and 20 km away from Kissamos. It lies at the edge of a verdant valley, surrounded by Mount Koutroulis. This secluded beach is off the beaten track, however it is connected by bus to both Chania Town and Kissamos, and there are some rooms to rent and fish taverns along the coast.

The beach is strewn with small pebbles and the azure waters are pristine. Trees and tamarisk bushes line the coast, providing ample natural shade. Only the southern part of the beach is partly organized.

If you walk up a rocky trail on the Korakas promontory, you will also find another completely secluded beach called Platanakia. A few kilometers south of Sfinari stretches the famous Elafonisi Beach, with its crystalline waters and exotic beauty.
