Chania Almyrida beach

General information

Almyrida Beach is situated in Almyrida Village in Chania, 22 km east of the main city. It is primarily a sandy beach with shallow blue waters. Almyrida consists of two small bays connected by a small stone ramp, where the lifeguard tower is. The beach also has a small area with white pebbles and rocks, which lead to sand as you go deeper. It is an ideal beach for families with children that can also provide moments of relaxation, as it is located away from all the noise of the big cities and resorts.

The beach is organized, since beach bars, restaurants and hotels operate on its grounds. All of the establishments by the beach are lined up next to each other along the shore, so you have all of your options in front of you! Opposite the beach, a tiny island named Karga is also discernible. It is an ideal spot for diving into the waters of Almyrida and you can reach it by swimming.

Almyrida is also susceptible to strong winds, making it perfect for those interested in surfing or windsurfing! The beach presents big waves on certain occasions, attracting the interest of many surfing enthusiasts. There is also a watersports center on the shore that offers equipment and classes for aspiring surfers!
