The Museum of Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos (CAMU) is housed in a neoclassical mansion in Plaka, Athens. The museum was established in 1976, but in 2004, the land adjacent to the neoclassical building was purchased by Mrs. Canellopoulos in order to become a part of the museum, as the available space in the mansion was not sufficient to host all the items of the collection.

The museum hosts the private collection of the Canellopoulos family which was donated to the Greek state, including more than 6,000 items and art pieces from prehistoric to modern times. The museum’s objective is not only to showcase Greek art and culture but also to promote education through supporting activities for less privileged people and charities.

The exhibits are divided and shown in two chronological and thematic categories. The Byzantine Art collection exhibits items from the Early Christian to the Post-Byzantine age and the Ancient Art collection presents objects from the Prehistoric to the Roman age.
The collection is extensive, featuring figurines, vessels, tools and weapons from Egypt, Mesopotamia and Cyprus along with Byzantine icons, chalices and mass items.
One of the most impressive exhibits is the ruins of a medieval wall, which is displayed in situ.

The museum is open from Wednesday to Monday, 09:00 - 16:00.
