Location: Town

Standing opposite the church of Agios Nikolaos, the church of the three martyrs from Spetses is a splendid contemporary church overlooking the old harbor. It is dedicated to the three Spetsiotan Martyrs who were tortured to death on the island of Chios in the 1820s.

Having recently been renovated, it presents considerable architectural interest on account of its imposing domes. In the past, the area also housed the businesses of Hatzigiannis Mexis, a local shipowner with considerable wealth and power, who became the island’s first governor. They comprised warehouses, an olive press, a forge, as well as the shipyard where his boats were built.

The annual celebration in honor of the saints takes place on the 3rd of February, which is a local bank holiday.
