Rethymno Airport

There is no airport in Rethymno. Visitors to Crete Island are served by other airports of Crete island: Chania airport and Heraklion airport, which receive domestic flights from Athens and Thessaloniki, along with charter flights in the summertime.

To reach Rethymno from the nearby airports of Chania and Heraklion, both of which receive a large amount of visitors throughout the summer, you can hop on one of the available KTEL buses, reach it by taxi, or catch one of the limited ferries reaching Rethymno from other spots of Crete in the high season.

Traveling from Chania to Rethymno by car is a little more than an hour-long drive, whereas a bus drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Similarly, Heraklion to Rethymno is 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus or 1 hour and 10 minutes by car.
You can also handle your private transfers around Rethymno online!

Furthermore, Rethymno receives ferries from various other spots of Greece (mostly during the summer), namely Athens (ports of Piraeus and Rafina), Andros, Ios, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, and Tinos.
Sailing times vary, between 2 hours and 20 minutes for the Santorini - Rethymno connection, to 14 hours for a trip between Rethymno and Athens.
