Ano Volos village Pelion: Taking the road from Volos to Portaria, visitors will find the village of Ano Volos (upper Volos). The settlement was created by Christians who came from the Castle of Volos, as they had been persecuted by the Turks. The inhabitants of this village played an important role in the Revolution of 1821.
It is a small village with white house built according the traditional architecture of Pelion, with huge plane trees, dark gorges, water courses and flowery sides. In Ano Volos is the Folklore Museum of Theophilos and a wonderful neoclassical building which belonged to Chatziargyris. This building is considered as the jewel of the area by the locals.
