The fortified monastery of Agia Varvara (Saint Barbara) is worth seeing for its beautiful frescoes dating from the 15th century. It is located in close distance to the capital, near the monastery of Prodromos and the monastery of Metamorfosi.

The Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ (Metamorfosi Sotira) is located 3 km east of Skopelos Town, in a lush green area. It was founded in the 16th century and it hosts an exhibition of rare icons and books.

The legend says that on the location Sendoukia at Mount Karia, Skopelos, there are the graves of pirates. In fact, on this spot, there are ancient graves carved on the rocks.
