Skiathos Lalaria beach

Only reachable by boat from the old port of Skiathos Town, Lalaria Beach is a dreamy place of sublime beauty. Unlike all other beaches on the island, which are surrounded by lush vegetation, the narrow Lalaria Cove is created by a huge vertical cliff that extends right into the sea, forming a breathtaking arch and magnificent sea caves. This dramatic landscape is harmoniously complemented by pristine turquoise waters which never fail to captivate anyone who sets eyes on them.

The beach also stands out for the distinctive white round pebbles which are strewn on its shore, sparkling under the Aegean sun. It is these pebbles that have given the beach its name, and they cannot be found anywhere else on the island.

Lalaria more than deserves its place among the 50 top beaches in the world, in a list published by Flight Network in 2018. Over the years, though, the natural landscape has begun to suffer from the removal of the unique lalaria pebbles by visitors who wish to take some back as souvenirs. Thus, it is important to bear in mind that removing pebbles is no longer allowed by local regulations.

As the beach is not organized, it is best to be equipped with all the necessary provisions, including plenty of water, snacks, water shoes and sun protection. One of the best things to do if you have your own boat is to come at sunrise, when the sky takes on flaming pink, orange and purple hues, presenting a truly majestic spectacle.

Keep in mind that the only way to reach the beach is via the sea.
