• How can I get to my hotel from the port?

Three ports in Aegina receive ferries - Aegina Port, Agia Marina Port and Souvala Port. The most convenient thing to do is reach the closest port to your accommodation. In such a case, you may be able to go to your hotel on foot. Alternatively, there are public buses that connect Aegina Town with Agia Marina and Souvala (different routes), while some taxis are also available on the island. Note, though, that the number of taxis is limited and contacting a local driver in advance to pick you up is recommended. Last but not least, a car or motorbike (a rental one or your own) is, apparently, another option.

• How can I get to the beaches?

You can get to the beaches via different means of transport. Taking a water taxi is widely preferred because such vessels allow you to gaze at the beautiful seascape throughout the crossing. A car or motorbike can take you to almost any beach, too, yet you need to be careful with steep and dirt tracks if you ride a motorbike. You can also use a taxi, but it is not recommended for beaches situated away from your accommodation (in terms of cost). Lastly, the most budget-friendly option is the bus. However, keep in mind, that buses only reach tourist spots; hence, a bus will serve you if you want to visit the beaches of the popular resorts.

• Can I rely on public means of transport?

The only public means of transport available on the island is the bus. Buses in Aegina operate three routes that reach the busiest areas, such as Agia Marina, Perdika, and Souvala. Itineraries are frequent during the high season and the journey is not much time-consuming. Therefore, people who want to visit tourist spots can rely on public means of transport. On the other hand, the bus will not work for travelers who have less-known areas and secluded beaches in their itinerary.

• Are the distances between the main town and the touristy spots long?

Aegina is not a large island, so the distance between any two spots on it usually does not surpass 40-45 minutes via a wheeled vehicle or a water taxi (stops not included). Nonetheless, the routes are much more time-consuming on foot (2+ hours), so we do not consider walking an option or recommend it, especially during summer when the temperatures may exceed 30℃.
