Mycenae Tourism

Mycenae is a world-famous destination with a rich historical and mythological background. Among the most important spots of Mycenae is the Gate of Lions, which is the most ancient example of monumental architecture in the whole of Europe. Dozens of artifacts have been excavated in the site, including bronze weapons, statuettes, and golden jewelry, and they are hosted today in the Archaeological Museum of Mycenae.

Today, thousands of tourists visit Mycenae all year round, but mostly in summer. Many daily tours depart from Athens to Mycenae, while it is also visited by people who holiday in the region. Tourism in Mycenae is restricted to a visit to the archaeological site, while there is an effort over the last years to develop the region as an agricultural destination.
